Book Review: I’m Going to Give You a Bear Hug

“I’m Going to Give You a Bear Hug” by Caroline B. Cooney is a kids book that I and my daughter enjoy a lot. More than the rhythmic lines of the book it is always fun to enact along with it and give hugs to the little one. There are many books that we read together but it is not quite often that we can act silly and give each other lots and lots of hugs and laugh all the way to the last page of the book.

Reading this book to my daughter has become kind of our thing to do at night, it is not only fun but also a great way to show love and care. I must be honest for a second here, while I first read the book alone, before reading it to my daughter it sounded silly and mostly meaningless but when I enacted the words giving tons of hugs to my daughter it made a  lot of sense and I loved it.

A Snippet of text from the book “I’m going to give you a bear hug. A show you how much I care hug. A good night sleep tight, way beyond compare hug”. If you read the line you will understand what I am trying to say. It does not make much sense right? but when you hug your kid after the line and they smile it feels really nice and when reading a book to my daughter and it helps us bond, I would say it fulfilled one of the biggest purposes.

The illustrations by Tim Warnes is also great to look at, they match the fun rhymic words on each page and my daughter loves the bright and colorful pictures in it.

Check the book out at Amazon (Affiliate Link), if you decide to get it for your kids have fun reading it to them.
