Planning a Camping Holiday

When summer comes around many of us go for camping or go on holidays around the world. I personally feel camping out among nature has a relaxing impact on my mind and body. In 2018 we have planned to take one (or maybe two) vacation/s and one will be a camping trip with my family. It will be my daughter’s 1st camping trip so I am planning ahead of time so that I do not have to face unexpected situations. Shortlisting a camping site suited for a 4 and a half-year-old is a huge task, our plan is to spend some time swimming, boating and a little bit of hiking and I think Lackawanna State Park in Pennsylvania will be a great option. While it is not finalized yet, but I like the options they have and it is not very far from my location, it will only be a short trip from our to home to the campsite.

While doing my search for places to visit where I can be amongst nature, not only in the US but also in the other countries, I came across a beautiful and innovative place called Kalu Yala. Kalu Yala is a village that is being built in the Panamanian river valley, the idea behind the village is to bring together entrepreneurs, artists, scientists to build a village that will have a negative carbon footprint. I really loved the idea and with the today’s problem of pollution and high carbon footprint of each and every country, this initiative is simply brilliant. While Kalu Yala sounds like a great holiday destination, it can also be selected as the base camp to explore the rest of Panama.

The thing that really intrigues me is the thought process behind all these, it really is different from what most of us are habituated to these days. Kalu Yala is Off-the-grid, it is powered by the tropical sun and meals come from their food forest or their own harvest. Their website has a lot of information about what they are doing, how they are building homes brick by brick and how someone can start living there or start a business.

Kalu Yala is currently having a $1000 scholarship campaign, where someone who is eligible can apply for the scholarship money by writing an essay and 1 winner will be selected by the end of December 2018. To find out more about the eligibility and other details regarding the scholarship check out the Kalu Yalu Scholarship page. Or you can follow the progress or simply want to see the beautiful village in pictures, check them out at Kalu Yala Instagram or the Kalu Yalu website.
